A brush fire burned about two acres in the Boyle Heights area Thursday, briefly threatening some homes, but crews doused the flames with no damages or injuries reported.
Firefighters responded just after 1:30 p.m. to the 1000 block of South Soto Street, and found a fire burning uphill toward some homes along nearby Mott Street south of the Golden State (5) Freeway, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.

The fire was knocked down within 29 minutes, she said.
It was unclear what may have caused the fire. Firefighters remained at the scene to ensure all hot spots were extinguished.
