On Friday morning, Los Angeles firefighters rescued a woman floating in the fast-moving waters of the Tujunga Wash.

Firefighters say the woman, a 28-year-old, was spotted by some workers near the wash and a good Samaritan tried to save her himself, but was unable to get to her. Firefighters were called to the area.

“Firefighters went downriver and they were able to locate the patient and we lowered a paramedic down to do the rescue in a hoist operation,” LAFD Capt. Adam Van Gerpen told KNX News’ Jon Baird. “So they were able to lift the patient out through a hoist operation, get them into the helicopter, and then transported to a local hospital.”
