Ryan Wedding, a former Canadian Olympic snowboarder turned FBI fugitive, was arrested Thursday night.

Wedding was taken into custody in Mexico City, where the FBI says he was believed to have been hiding for more than a decade.

“President Sheinbaum, Secretary Harfuch, and the military and law enforcement officers in Mexico worked hand in glove with our teams on the ground there to apprehend last night in Mexico City, Ryan Wedding,” FBI Director Kash Patel told reporters. “I was privileged to be there on a previously planned trip, and this was a great operation that came together through interagency success because no one behind me and to the side of me cares about credit.”

Wedding faces charges related to drug trafficking and killing a federal witness.

He also went by “El Jefe,” “Public Enemy,” and “James Conrad King." He was charged in 2024. It is estimated that the drug ring moved around 60 tons of cocaine a year using trucks to smuggle drugs between Colombia, Mexico, California, and Canada.

A $15 million reward was offered for information leading to his capture and conviction. It’s unclear if anyone will claim it.

Wedding will be in a secure location in L.A. over the weekend.
