Once the photos of the two murder suspects were spread by the media, tips started flowing in and led the police to Anthony Lemus, who turned himself into police Monday, according to Los Angeles Police Department Lt. Ryan Rabbett.

Rabbett said the police believe it was Lemus who shot employee Miguel Peñaloza, the 36-year-old Glassell Park Rite Aid employee who tried to stop them from stealing two cases of beer.

“The video evidence that we have does suggest that [Lemus was the shooter], and we are still looking for that other suspect. There’s information and leads that our detectives are following up,” said Rabbett.

"Right now that person is still not in custody, but we look forward to making that arrest as well,” he said.

Rabbett has spoken with Peñaloza’s family.

“I did speak with them last night immediately following the arrest. We’ve been in contact with them throughout this investigation. They’re very thankful,” he said.

On a GoFundMe page set up to assist Peñaloza’s family with funeral costs and legal aid, family friend Cassandra Marie wrote, "To everyone who knew him, Miguel was a true friend. Kindhearted, honest, free-spirited, loyal, and loving. He would do anything for his family."

The fundraiser has exceeded its original goal of $50,000.

Rabbett said Lemus turned himself in because of family pressure and the knowledge that he was wanted.

To the other suspect, Rabbett said, “We know you’re out there. We’re going to be looking for you. We think you should follow the path of your friend.”

Lemus' bail is set at $2 million.
