
UPDATE: Both sides of I-10 have been completely reopened as of 1:51 p.m. Monday, California Highway Patrol says.
A section of eastbound Interstate 10 in Palm Springs is closed due to mudslides, the California Highway Patrol announced Monday morning.
“All Interstate 10 eastbound traffic is being turned around at Haughen-Lehmann Way.This closure will last for an unknown duration,” CHP San Gorgonio Pass said.
The closure affects more than 20 miles of I-10, between State Route 111 and Bob Hope Drive.

Northbound State Route 111 is also closed, and the southbound route is currently being evaluated for safety.

As reported by KNX News’ Thom Tran, drivers would need to take an 82-mile detour to dodge the closure. That’s about 2 extra hours for a drive that typically takes 15 minutes.
