A local band leader said thieves broke into their gated garage and ransacked several cars.
KNX News’ Nataly Tavidian spoke to Louise Van Venedaal, from local cover band Boombox Heroes, about the theft. She said the thieves got away with monitors, mixing boards, and microphones.
“I am kicking myself. I never leave anything in my car. I always take in my computer, even when I go to Starbucks in just a few hours,” she said.
That night, the suspects broke into the garage and looked at several cars around 2 a.m. with no masks on. Venedaal said when they came back, they had axes and were wearing bandanas. They smashed the back of her pink Tesla and stole the music equipment.
“We brought my personal computer that I wanted to record the band play, so I could sync it up to footage for the band members,” she said. “So I actually had all original music and songs and lyrics and stuff on that computer.”
She said everything she worked for is now gone. It’s going to be difficult to rebuild her band gear because so many places are closed during the holidays.
Venedaal filed a report with the LAPD, who believes the suspects may have broken into the lobby first before accessing the gated garage.
