It looks as if “Growing Pains” star Kirk Cameron does not have the support of his former costars for his ongoing maskless protests of California Governor Newsom’s stay-at-home orders.
Jeremy Miller and Tracey Gold are speaking out against the evangelist’s largescale events.
“While I will always love my brother Kirk, I could not disagree more with his holding these maskless events at a time when safety and concern for others is an extreme priority," Miller, who played Cameron's young brother, Ben Seaver, on the hit 90s series, told Page Six. “I truly couldn’t be more disappointed in him."
Gold, who starred as Cameron and Miller's older sister Carol Seaver, also gave Cameron a piece of her mind on the topic.
"Checking in with my dear brother Mike. @KirkCameron as your more intelligent sister, I want you to know that I disapprove," she wrote on Twitter. "I’m worried about you brother AND your family. Wear a mask. Stay home. Sing later."
Adding to the criticism is L.A. County Public Health Department director Barbara Ferrer who told Deadline she was “at a loss for words at this point” about the gatherings. “It’s very irresponsible and very dangerous and it’s unnecessary.
We’re in the middle of a pandemic.”
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has reported 13,580 new COVID-19 cases and 44 new virus-related deaths.
To date, there have been 719,833 positive cases and 9,482 deaths -- and those deaths are an undercount due to holiday and weekend reporting delays, Public Health stated.
As of Sunday, there are 6,815 people currently hospitalized with COVID- 19, and 20% of them are in the ICU.
More than 4.6 million people in the county have been tested for the coronavirus and 15% of them have tested positive, according to the department.
The seven-day daily positivity rate is currently 17.5%.
"In order for us to stop the surge, L.A. County residents will need to use the tools at hand to slow community transmission and reduce the number of infected people," the statement said.
