KNX Hero: Shining a light of hope and inspiration

Our KNX Hero of the Week, Jen Principe, is shining a light of hope and inspiration onto families dealing with trauma or critical illnesses.

The stylist and author founded The Phoenix Effect, a nonprofit that provides unique and personalized photo shoot experiences for those battling life changing diseases or trauma.

“We curate the photo shoot based on what they are sort of missing or looking for,” she told Heroes host Heather Jordan. "It can be anything from hobbies that they like or they just want to feel seen again and they want to incorporate maybe some fashion into their wardrobe. So we find a location. We have hair, makeup, and we do about 5 to 8 looks. Then we present the families with a memorialized coffee table book.”

“I do believe that we're all part of the Phoenix journey,” she said. “Whether we go through it ourselves, I think we all do at some point in our lives. Whether it's a job change or leaving a toxic friendship or a divorce, we all are rebirthed, I think many, many times, and I think as human beings, we have a responsibility to help Phoenix's rise out of the ashes.”
