Golfers in Los Angeles said brokers are grabbing all of the tee times at public courses and then reselling them for profit, making it difficult to play on a course without paying a high price.
During L.A.’s Golf Advisory Committee meeting on Monday night, golfers said brokers have been profiting off a public system for years and that the city needs to do something about it.
Kevin Fitzgerald, who serves on the L.A. Golf Advisory Committee, said everyone should have a chance to secure a tee time.
"There's more golfers chasing the fewest holes here by a long shot, so it's really a challenge, but by the same time, it's incumbent on us to make sure the system has integrity and that everyone has an opportunity to secure a tee time,” he said.
The Department of Recreation and Parks said it is launching its own investigation through the L.A. City Attorney's Office, according to the Los Angeles Times.
