Los Angeles County is seeing over 1,000 COVID-19 cases for the fifth day in a row.

The county reported 1,103 new COVID cases, bringing the statewide total to 1,259,772. It was also reported that 12 additional people died, bringing the statewide death toll up to 24,554.

These recent surges, health officials say, are blamed on the "Delta" variant of the coronavirus.

Pushes for Los Angeles County residents to get vaccinated continue as the LA County Board of Supervisors are considering taking the coronavirus vaccine on the road to reach out to Black and Latino communities.
