Marc Verbena was preparing to move his family into their newly remodeled Hollywood Hills home until a landslide brought rocks and dirt crashing down, causing significant damage to the house.
Verbena told KNX News reporter Margaret Carrero they were just putting the final touches together, with furniture delivery expected next week.
Now, "We have dirt inside the kitchen, dirt by the appliances. Dirt in the bedroom broke the windows," Verbena explained... "It's affecting the frame of the house. The roof is collapsing in the back. I mean, just the whole house is. It was done, and now it's destroyed."
Verbena said slides have happened in the past, but nothing of this magnitude.
The house has been red-tagged, and Verbena says he doesn't know what will happen next but doesn't have the money to fix the damage. He believes the city should take some responsibility.
"It's not right, and the city shouldn't let us build there and spend all that money if the hill is not safe," said Verbena... "and they should have called it out before, and they should be responsible for fixing the hill."

The family has set up a GoFundMe page because they estimate that it will cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to fix the hill.
