West Hollywood Pride starts on Friday, and the community is getting ready to celebrate, but with the recent proliferation of anti-LGBT and especially anti-transgender rhetoric, some have security concerns.

Tens of thousands of people will descend on WeHo for the festivities, and according to L.A. County Sheriff Sgt Jason Duron with the West Hollywood station, the area will be flooded with extra deputies, canines, and undercover officers to keep everyone safe.

"There's going to be hundreds of deputies out here for the entire weekend watching intersections, watching streets," Sgt Duron told KNX News' Emily Valdez.

Heavy barriers will also be in place to prevent vehicles from entering the area.

The city of West Hollywood said in a statement that in addition to local law enforcement, it has also teamed up with the FBI.

There are no specific threats ahead of the event to report, but Duron said, of course, if you see something, say something.

The three-day event includes a free "Friday Night at OUTLOUD Music Festival," followed by paid-ticketed "OUTLOUD Music Festival" performances on Saturday and Sunday.

Attendees can also enjoy various free weekend activities, such as the Street Fair, the Women's Freedom Festival, the Dyke March, and the WeHo Pride Parade.

Commuters should anticipate significant traffic delays due to multiple street closures. A road closures map is on the City of West Hollywood's website at www.wehopride.com/gettinghere.
