26,000 runners from 70 countries and all 50 states will take part in the L.A. Marathon on Sunday. Some of them have been taking part in the race every year since its inception in 1986.

KNX News’ Margaret Carrero spoke to Amy Wyatt, a racer who will tackle the 26.2-mile course from Dodger Stadium to Century City. She’s a legacy runner — which means she’s finished all 38 L.A. Marathons to date.

“My twin sister, Ann, and I did the first L.A. Marathon after the L.A. Olympics, and it was so exciting to see the first women's marathon finish at the coliseum and then get to be a part of the first event in L.A.,” she said.

Wyatt, who also happens to be the youngest legacy runner at 54,  sticks with the race because, simply, it’s fun to run.

“I hope we can inspire a lot of younger people to get into running and staying in shape, and I get to be friends with all these amazing legacy runners every year,” she said.

For anybody who’s interested in running the L.A. Marathon, Wyatt said to just show up and get started.

There will be plenty of road closures for the L.A. Marathon on Sunday. More information on the event can be found at mccourtfoundation.org/event/los-angeles-marathon.
