LOS ANGELES (KNX) – Police released new details Thursday regarding the man accused of stabbing two people in El Sereno on Friday.

David Zapata, 32, was arrested Wednesday following a standoff in Alhambra.

Zapata is accused of stabbing 17-year-old Xavier Chavarin in the back outside King Torta restaurant on Valley Boulevard. The teen later died. Zapata is also accused at stabbing a 33-year-old man in the 5400 block of Valley Boulevard hours later.

Police said Zapata has seven misdemeanor arrests, but no felony or arrests or convictions, according to KCAL. A motive in the stabbing has not been revealed at this point, but police said both incidents occurred with “no provocation.”

Los Angeles Police, however, revealed during a press conference that Zapata was not the driver of the Honda CRV he used to flee after stabbing Chavarin.

Police are working to find if the second person was involved in the second stabbing.
