Man accused of taking more than $3,600 worth of jewelry in armed robbery at Culver City mall

CULVER CITY, Calif. (KNX) — A 22-year-old man — who police noted has an extensive rap sheet — was in custody Friday after he allegedly robbed another man in a parking structure at the Westfield Culver City mall.

Police said the alleged robbery occurred at 4:33 p.m. Sunday on the fourth level of the parking structure in the 6000 block of Sepulveda Boulevard.

The victim told officers he was robbed at gunpoint by two suspects and had more than $3,600 worth of jewelry taken from him.

Culver City Police detectives worked with mall security to identify a possible suspect and based on the evidence found, they were able to obtain a search warrant for the arrest of Mathew Loera.

Police said Loera was found at the mall Thursday morning and taken into custody without incident. He was booked at the Culver City Police Department for robbery.

This morning, March 17, 2022, Loera, who has an extensive arrest history, was located at the mall and was taken into custody without incident.  Loera was transported and booked at the Culver City Police Department for robbery.

There was no information about the identity of the other suspect.
