Man suffers life-threatening gunshot wound in Long Beach

LONG BEACH (CNS) - A man suffered a life-threatening wound to the upper body during a shooting Sunday morning in Long Beach, authorities said.

Officers were dispatched at about 1 a.m. to the 5300 block of East Second Street, where arriving paramedics rushed the man to a hospital, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

His condition was not immediately known.

Police said the victim was with a group of men who were involved in a verbal dispute with a group of unknown male suspects.

"This verbal dispute escalated when one of the suspects revealed a firearm and shot the victim," according to police. "The suspects fled the scene prior to officers' arrival."

No other injuries were reported.
