
The Los Angeles Police Department Wednesday said a 31- year-old man has turned himself in to authorities in connection with a fatal Nov. 7 hit-and-run crash near Silver Lake.
Police believe Christopher Gibson was behind the wheel of a 2011 Mazda 3 that was going westbound on Sunset Boulevard, just east of Edgecliff Drive, when it fatally struck a pedestrian on a scooter about 1:10 a.m. on Nov. 7, according to a police statement.
The Mazda fled westbound on Sunset Boulevard, then southbound on Lucile Avenue. Paramedics rushed the pedestrian to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Gibson was subsequently arrested on suspicion of felony hit and run. The Los Angeles resident was booked at the Metropolitan Detention Center and his bail was set at $100,000.
