The Midnight Mission hosted its annual Thanksgiving brunch in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday, feeding 2,000 homeless and near-homeless people.
The shelter is expected to serve about 2,000 turkey dinners. Some of the volunteers helping to serve the food included celebrities such as Jennifer Garner, Ben Affleck, and Mr. T.
Garner told KNX News’ Jon Baird it was a joyful atmosphere.
“It always feels great start any day you can with service and we're all lucky that the Midnight Mission is doing this amazing work and lets us be a part of it,” she said.
Mr. T said he’s been volunteering since 1981.
“When I got the part in ‘Rocky,’ I had to come out here for six, seven months to film. My pastor, Henry Hardy, told me, ‘Brother T, find a place that you can minister to,’” he recalled to Baird. “So I got connected to the Midnight Mission.”

He said he comes out to give love to the people.
“I wanna hug them. I wanna love on them,” he said. “I wanna give some. I wanna inspire somebody. Let somebody know don't give up, don't quit.”
L.A. Councilwoman Traci Park called the shelter “one of the most incredible human service organizations in all of Los Angeles.”
“The work they do is incredible and we need so much more of this in Los Angeles,” she told Baird.
The Midnight Mission has been feeding people since 1914.
