Motorcyclist killed in traffic crash in Gardena

A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a vehicle in Gardena over the weekend, police said Monday.

The crash occurred about 8:25 p.m. Saturday in the 14500 block of Normandie Avenue, according to the Gardena Police Department.

"Upon arrival, officers found the motorcyclist on the roadway," Gardena police said in a statement.

Paramedics took the injured man to a hospital, where he died, police said. Information on his identity was not immediately available.

"A preliminary investigation discovered the motorcyclist was traveling northbound (on) Normandie Avenue when a vehicle made a left turn in front of the motorcyclist," police said.
