Mount Wilson Observatory was all set to welcome visitors to enjoy next week’s partial solar eclipse, but the weather threw a wrench in that plan.

KNX News’ Margaret Carrero spoke to Tom Meneghini, the director of telescope operations for the observatory, who said there’s about a foot of snow at the observatory and the access road is closed.

“There's no public passage on that roadway right now,” he said. “That could change during the week, but given the fact we're having a storm again on Thursday and Friday that would potentially impact that even more or additionally, we just decided there were too many uncertainties to keep, to schedule this event.”

Meneghini said he’s disappointed for his, and the public’s sake.
