The moment took place on January 21 at one of Marx’s US co-headlining tour with Rick Springfield, at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York, during a rendition of his 1989 song “Angelia.”
Apparently someone in the crowd was loudly letting their presence be known. While at first, Marx continued to play, paying the interrupter no attention, after he concluded the song he voiced his frustration.
Addressing the crowd, but singling out the noisy audience member, Marx said, “I’m genuinely curious who raised you to think that anything you could yell out was more important than what we were doing,” as seen in a video obtained by TMZ. “Learn some f***ing manners, lady”, he concluded, which resulted in a loud roaring cheer from the audience.
Springfield, who was also on stage, chimed in to support his pal. “Kind of wild that happens sometimes,” he said. “I was in a place where there was a bar in the back, and I was doing ‘My Father’s Chair’ and there was like four people at the bar just having a chat.”
Like Marx, Springfield concluded his anecdote about loudmouth concert-goers with a bang, saying, “I’m going to come into your work and I’m going to pee on your desk while you’re working.”
“Let’s get back to the music here,” Springfield said, strumming his guitar to start the next tune. And the rest of the concert went on without a hitch.
