SAG-AFTRA is continuing to picket outside the major Hollywood studios Monday after the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers walked away from the bargaining table last week.

The AMPTP announced on Oct. 11 that talks between the unions were suspended.

“After meaningful conversations, it is clear that the gap between the AMPTP and SAG-AFTRA is too great, and conversations are no longer moving us in a productive direction,” they said.

SAG-AFTRA, however, accused the AMPTP of using “bullying tactics,” adding, “they intentionally misrepresented to the press the cost of the above proposal – overstating it by 60%”

Fran Drescher, the union’s president, said in an interview with The Associated Press, “I’ve never really met people that actually don’t understand what negotiations mean. Why are you walking away from the table? To what end do you hope that that will accomplish anything?”

George Clooney told KNX News’ Nataly Tavidian that he spoke with Drescher.

“She said, ‘I’m going to go in there and sit there today, tomorrow, I'm going to be in the room to negotiate,’” he said. “‘I'm going to be there all day every day to negotiate, and when they come in, we'll sit there, we'll fight, we'll argue, we'll disagree, we'll figure it out, and we won't leave until we get it done.”

One striking actress told KNX News’ Jon Baird she’s still holding out hope a deal can be made.

“I don't think we'll be out here until next year,” she said. “At least I really hope we're not. But I feel like this is the home stretch in the industry have pointed out.”

Meanwhile, writers are also making a return to the writers’ room after ratifying the deal they made with AMPTP on Oct. 9.

“Everything that gets written is just gonna sit there because nothing can get shot as long as, our actor brother and sisters are still out on strike,” writer Sal Calleros told KNX News’ Jon Baird.

Daytime talk shows such as The Kelly Clarkson Show and The Drew Barrymore Show are also scheduled to return on Monday.
