REDLANDS, Calif. (KNX) — Redlands police arrested an 18-year-old high school student at Orangewood High School for allegedly bringing a “ghost gun” to campus.

James Anthony Jones of San Bernardino was taken into custody while on campus Wednesday, according to a statement from the Redlands Police Department.

The teen was carrying around an “unloaded, unserialized ‘ghost gun’” in his backpack, according to police. Campus security discovered the gun, according to ABC7.

Ghost guns” are typically firearms that are assembled from kids and do not carry serial numbers making them virtually untraceable.

Investigators also found stolen property from multiple car burglaries that happened outside of Redlands, according to police. No other information about the burglaries was made available.

Police added there’s no indication Jones made any threats against anyone on campus, and no ammunition or other weapons were found.
