Whenever the National Weather Service issues a red flag warning, a warning of high wind and low humidity for the city of Los Angeles, the use of open flame outdoors will be a violation of city law.
But what about barbecues?
KNX News’ Craig Fiegener reported that council member Monica Rodriguez successfully argued for an exemption when it comes to barbecuing in a residential area on a red flag day, saying it “misses the mark” and is “tone deaf.”
“ Instead of talking about targeting residents for family gatherings for the carne asadas, I have introduced an amendment that is helping to extract that recommendation from the report today, and I ask for your vote,” she said.
Fiegener reported that the vote was unanimous.
