NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Emmy winner Kerry Washington will star in the upcoming movie "Rockaway" for Netflix, based on a memoir by Diane Cardwell, according to Collider.
Washington, who also serves as one of the film's producers, will play a New York City journalist who takes up an assignment in the Queens neighborhood of Rockaway Beach and uncovers her passion for surfing and rediscovers herself.

The Golden Globe-nominated actress previously stared in the Netflix musical-comedy "The Prom" and the Emmy-nominated drama "American Son".
