20 years ago on this day (2003) was one of the biggest victories and stunning upsets in Kansas State football history, when #15 K-State walloped #1-ranked Oklahoma 35-7 in the Big 12 Conference championship game at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Wildcats came into the game under head coach Bill Snyder with a record of 10-3 and a six-game winning streak, including its first win at Nebraska in 35 years; yet, Kansas State was a two-touchdown underdog against the top-ranked Sooners.

Some were calling OU one of the greatest teams in college football history. With a record of 12-0, Oklahoma led the nation in offense, averaging 48 points per game, and #1 in defense, allowing only 13 points per game. During the regular season, the Sooners had defeated Texas 65-13, and also beat Texas A&M 77-0.

Oklahoma had been the consensus #1-ranked team in the nation for four straight months. OU scored a touchdown on its first possession for a 7-0 lead, then was outscored by K-State 35-0 in the final three quarters.

Kansas State quarterback Ell Roberson threw four touchdown passes, running back Darren Sproles ran for 235 yards, and the Wildcats won their first conference title in 69 years, since taking the Big Six in 1934.

Before this win, K-State had been 0-8 vs. the #1-ranked team in the nation; 20 years later, it's still KSU's only win vs. a #1-ranked team.
