The Wichita Wind Surge announced Monday that the organization will officially rebrand as the Wichita Turbo Tubs, adopting a new identity that team officials say reflects the evolving, entertainment-focused culture of Minor League Baseball.
The club will continue playing as the Wind Surge throughout the 2026 season, with new uniforms, caps, logos, and merchandise set to debut ahead of the 2027 campaign.
Team officials said the rebrand is designed to strengthen the connection between the franchise and the Wichita community while embracing the fun and creativity that have become hallmarks of Minor League Baseball.
“This is more than a name change—it's a celebration of who we are and where we’re headed. The community asked for this, and we have made the bold change,” said General Manager Matt Hamilton. “Baseball should be fun, memorable, and uniquely tied to our community. The Turbo Tubs captures that energy in a way that fans of all ages can rally behind.”
As part of the transition, the organization will introduce updated uniforms and branding, expand its mascot experience, and continue enhancing in-game entertainment, promotional events, and fan engagement initiatives.
Despite the new look, team leaders emphasized that the club’s commitment to affordable family entertainment and community involvement will remain unchanged.
“With the Turbo Tubs identity, Wichita’s hometown team takes fun and local connection to another level,” said DBH Executive Chairman Pat Battle and CEO Peter Freund in a joint statement. “The club has built incredible momentum at Equity Bank Park in recent years, and this rebrand is a reflection of the creativity and energy that have made it such a special part of the Wichita community. We can’t wait to see fans embrace the Turbo Tubs.”
The Turbo Tubs brand has been familiar to local fans since 2022, when the team began wearing specialty uniforms for select games. The organization said those appearances helped pave the way for the permanent adoption of the identity.
According to the club, the Turbo Tubs branding is rooted in Wichita history and culture. The logo features a porcelain bathtub powered by a wind sail and jet engines, a nod to the bathtub races once held on the Arkansas River and the city’s long-standing aerospace industry. A troll inspired by the sculpture along the Arkansas River near the Keeper of the Plains serves as the team’s captain, while the color palette draws inspiration from Midwest sunsets.
The Wichita Turbo Tubs will remain the Double-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins and continue playing at Equity Bank Park. Team officials said the rebrand is intended to celebrate many of the features that make Wichita unique while embracing the playful spirit of Minor League Baseball.
