After NBA Top Shot took the basketball community — and the sports world, in general — by storm, several other athletes and organizations have been looking to get into the fun of digital collectibles and non-fungible token. You can count NFL star Rob Gronkowski and Philadelphia 76ers executive Daryl Morey among those who, in some way, shape or form, have gotten in on the action.

On Tuesday, it was announced that the Golden State Warriors had broken ground as the first NBA team ever to launch a collection of NFTs as digital collectibles. According to the press release and the official website, where you can bid on the collectibles or just check them out if you're curious, the team is commemorating their six NBA championships and other iconic games in franchise history with the collection. A portion of the proceeds from the auctions will benefit the Warriors Community Foundation.
You want a digital edition of a Warriors championship ring, whether it's from the 1947 team or the 2018 team? You want a digital ticket stub from the 2016 team's 73rd win of the season, or from the last regular season game every played at Oracle Arena? Or perhaps you want to shoot for one of the ultimate prizes: a ring that combines all six championships, or the "Golden Ticket NFT," which "combines all 74 years of historic Warriors moments" in one neat package.
They're all available, if you have some money to spare — money that has been converted into the Ethereum cryptocurrency.
"The digital collectibles excitement is palpable," said Warriors Chief Revenue Officer Brandon Schneider. "We see NFTs and digitization of our business as a mainstay to engage our fans around the world. As an organization, we are constantly evaluating ways to be creative and innovate and launching this special NFT Collection is the latest evolution for us in that space. Additionally, it is important to us that proceeds from this initiative will support the Warriors Community Foundation at a critical time in our community’s journey to rebuild educational practices during the pandemic."
The Warriors Community Foundation, according to its website, "supports education and youth development to promote thriving students, schools and communities," and has granted over $22 million in impact for the Bay Area since it was founded in 2012.
