He was born on New Year's Eve -- happy 92nd birthday to basketball legend Cleo Littleton, who for 70 years now has remained the all-time leading scorer for the Shockers in Wichita basketball history, with 2,164 career points.
After a prolific high school career at Wichita East High School for the Blue Aces with future Hall of Fame head coach Ralph Miller, the 6'3" Littleton stayed home and played for coach Miller at the University of Wichita as well. Littleton became the first college player west of the Mississippi River to score 2,000 points in a career.
Littleton's #13 jesery is among the five retired numbers at Wichita State, displayed from the rafters at Koch Arena.
He was drafted by the Fort Wayne Pistons in the 5th round (40th pick) of the 1955 NBA Draft, but chose to remain in Wichita to play AAU hoops and begin his business career.
Littleton is the only men’s basketball player in Missouri Valley Conference history to be named first-team all-conference four times.
Littleton helped lead Wichita East HS to the 1951 Class AA state championship over Newton, and played in 184 consecutive games from his sophomore year in high school through his senior season for the Shockers.
