In this edition of Top-10 Stats of the Week, Kentucky makes NCAA Tournament history in humiliating fashion, LeBron James is still an ageless wonder, veteran quarterback Matt Ryan packs up for Indianapolis, and Deshaun Watson breaks the bank.
$18.3M/$1.6M -- During the 2019-20 college basketball season -- the most recent season unaffected by the pandemic, Kentucky outspent Saint Peter's, $18.3 million to $1.6 million, in men's hoops, according to the U.S Department of Education. The Wildcats shockingly lost by six points to the Peacocks last Thursday. It's the biggest financial upset in men's March Madness history.
5 vs. 0 -- Kentucky head coach John Calipari, took over the program in 2009, has seen five of his players get drafted during the first round in the same draft class. In the 58-year history of the Saint Peter's program, they've never had a player drafted in the NBA's first round.
8.7% -- Jameis Winston is returning to the New Orleans Saints on a two-year deal. Last year, he went 5-2 as their starter before suffering a season-ending ACL injury. And at the time of his injury, he owned an NFL-best 8.7 touchdown percentage.
42 -- Since Matt Ryan entered the NFL in 2008, he's had 42 game-winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime. No other quarterback has produced more game-winning drives over that same time.
1,200 -- Duke defeated Michigan State in the West Region's second round on Sunday, giving longtime coach Mike Krzyzewski his 1,200th career victory and 99th career tourney win. No other college coach has accomplished the feat.
1994 -- Phil Mickelson won't participate in the 2022 Masters tournament. The last time Mickelson didn't spend a springtime weekend at Augusta was back in 1994. At that time, NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo wasn't even born yet.
20-3 -- The Boston Celtics started the regular season with a 25-25 record. They're 20-3 since. They've been the hottest team in the NBA, and it's not even up for debate.
37 -- LeBron James recorded a 30-point triple-double against the Cavaliers in Cleveland on Monday night. He just became the only player in league history, age 37 or older, to achieve a 30-point triple-double.
30 -- Speaking of LeBron, he's currently averaging 30 points per game this season. Keep in mind that he's played 19 seasons. No player in NBA history had averaged 30-plus points per game in Year 13 or later before this season.
$230M -- Deshaun Watson got an NFL-record $230 million guaranteed from the Cleveland Browns last week. Not too shabby for a quarterback who made less than $4 million per year on his entry level salary.
