A good night for the Shockers, kicking off the season on the road in Bowling Green facing the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky. Shocker Justin Hill led the way with a career-high 31 points in his Wichita State debut. Hill also provided eight rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Xavier Bell added 17 points on 6-of-14 shooting and a trio of three-pointers. Quincy Ballard and Harlond Beverly both chipped in 10 points apiece to round out the leading scorers. WSU gets the 91-84 road win over Western Kentucky, the Shockers start the season in the win column for the fifth straight season.


Wichita State shot 44 percent from the field, including 11 three-pointers. The Shockers also did well at the free throw line, going 26-for-36. Wichita State committed 14 turnovers, but did improve at halftime after 10 of those came in the first half. Wichita State also dished out 17 assists on the night.

Next up for the Shockers, the home opener vs. Montana State on Saturday, Nov. 9th.
