The AfterShocks, a team founded by Wichita State alumni, hosted Eberlein Drive Sunday in the Championship Game of The Basketball Tournament. It was the AfterShocks 6th appearance in TBT, with teams all competing for the $1 million prize.
A near-capacity crowd of 9,029 fans packed Charles Koch Arena for the title game, the second largest attendance in TBT history and a record for a TBT Championship Game.
The AfterShocks were led in scoring by Marcus Keene with 22. Keene's 11 in the first quarter helped push the AfterShocks to a 46-37 halftime lead. Helped out by James Woodard, who finished with 11 points, hitting three 3-pointers in the second quarter.
Keene also scored four points in the Elam Ending, including free throws that clenched an 82-67 win.
It’s the first TBT title in team history, a 2022 semifinal appearance was their previous best finish. High attendance figures keeping the games here in Wichita played no small part in the championship win. The AfterShocks are 18-2 at Koch Arena in TBT play.
