The Washington Redskins are close to undergoing a major change for the 2020 season and beyond.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Redskins are undergoing a thorough review of the team's name.
In a press release early Friday morning, Redskins owner Dan Snyder said, "This process allows the team to take into account not only the proud tradition and history of the franchise but also input from our alumni, the organization, sponsors, the National Football Leauge and the local community it is proud to represent on and off the field."
The team was established in 1932 and have had the "Redskins" name for 87 years.
