Happy Red Cross Month! Here's How To Stay Prepared.

Red Cross Month

March is Red Cross Month, and we're partnering with the local Red Cross to promote the Prepare SoCal campaign. We want YOU to get prepared. There are three steps you can take now to be Red Cross Ready: 1) get a kit, 2) make a plan and 3) be informed.

Now that you've got your kit, you'll want to move to the next step and make your emergency plan. It's important to talk with your family or household members about how to prepare for and respond to the types of emergencies that are most likely to happen in your community – for us, that includes home fires, wildfires and earthquakes.

Finally, make sure you know how you will be informed. When disasters occur, your community can change in an instant. You need to know how your family will access disaster updates. Be ready to listen to local radio stations or weather radio stations for disaster updates. Stay tuned to local news for updates and follow social media accounts for emergency services providers like law enforcement, fire departments and the Red Cross. You can also download the Red Cross Emergency app on your smartphone to access info on what to do before, during and after an emergency and to monitor severe weather and emergency alerts, helping keep you and your loved ones safe.
