A new employer health insurance report released by the Commonwealth Fund finds many working families are spending more of their incomes on health care. Premium and deductible costs for health care amount to more than 11 percent of median income in 2018 – a significant jump compared to ten years ago.

David Radley, Senior Scientist with the Commonwealth Fund, an organization that promotes affordable access to healthcare, came on the program to discuss some of the findings of the report related to California families.

Californians contribute an average of 12% of their incomes toward premiums and deductibles while the U.S. average is 11.5%.
