Healthcare Underfunding Hampered Covid-19 Responce

The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated how chronic underfunding of our nation's public health and emergency preparedness systems has left the United States vulnerable to health security risks, according to a new report by Trust for America's Health (TFAH).


Rhea Farberman, Director Communications and Policy Research at Trust for America's Health came on the program to talk about the report which examines federal, state, and local public health funding trends and recommends investments and policies to build a stronger system, prioritize prevention, and effectively address 21st century health risks.

Emergency preparedness funding has been down for over a decade – leaving public health and health systems ill-equipped to handle an emergency such as the novel coronavirus.
