The Governor announced today that California is moving into Stage 2 of the re-opening process, and it will happen beginning this Friday (May8th).
While details are forthcoming, according to the LA Times, Gavin Newsom said that some retail businesses will be allowed to open, to include retails stores, flower shops, bookstores and more. However, the openings would be allowed with certain guidelines to follow. Those guidelines have not yet been released, but the Governor said that information is coming.
Governor Newsom also mentioned that in certain circumstances, he will allow local agencies to make the best decisions for their cities, but those too, would require certain criteria are met.
In addition, he said that Stage 2 will begin on Friday because the "data says it can happen".
The state has been under stay-at-home orders since mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
