A 4th of July Without Fireworks; Where Are Fireworks Legal In The IE?

I've been hearing a lot of fireworks going off in my neighborhood in Riverside lately.  I know this because I've got two, 70lb golden retrievers who fight for my lap every time one of them is set off.

So I did a little research on where fireworks are legal in the Inland Empire.  And I'll tell you, not very many cities allow them.

From the California Fireworks Newswire, there are approximately 297 communities throughout the entire STATE of California that actually allow some time of "safe and sane" fireworks.

But in Riverside County, they are illegal, save for 4 desert communities like Blythe and Desert Hot Springs. And for those cities, you can only use state APPROVED fireworks.

In San Bernardino County, you'll find only 9 cities allowing the smaller "safe and sane" fireworks and again, they have to be state APPROVED.

If you're like me, when the fireworks start in June, you know it's going to be a "noisy" couple of months.  Not only do our dogs go bananas, but illegal fireworks are one of the leading causes of brushfires in our area, and we just can't let that happen.

With COVID-19 cancelling all fireworks celebrations for 2020 in the IE, there may be a desire to head outside at night and shoot off your own purchased fireworks.  But remember, in Riverside, there are fines up to $1000 if you get caught, so it's best to leave it to the professionals and wait to celebrate until 2021.

Our dogs will thank you for that!
