A reported F3 Tornado devasted much of East Nashville overnight, and early reports say 19 people are confirmed dead.
The tornado touched down along I-40 in the area, destroying at least 40 structures in and around the areas of Germantown and East Nashville.
After sunrise this morning, the destruction was apparent as Tennessee Emergency Management began to survey the damage.
Social media painted an awful picture of the fear and anguish people endured during the storm, and many country artists checked in "safe" on their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.

According to WBNS, the CBS affiliate in Nashville, the tornado traveled approximately 10 miles thru the area.
