The gyms have closed, as have schools, and with most parents working from home, getting in a workout is near impossible.
Coming up with creative ways to stay fit, AND involve your family, takes some creative thinking.
Here's a few tips to help:
- Take frequent walks throughout your neighborhood
- Relay races in the back yard
- Set up a backyard obstacle course
- Stretching - Morning and night - lay out some yoga mats or a simple bath towel and stretch with kids for 10-15 minutes.
- Yoga - there's great video content to sift through on YouTube. Find a beginners video and teach your little ones how to downward dog!
- Mini-weights - take some soup cans from the cupboard and let the kids pretend they're barbells.
- Bike riding - getting out in the fresh air throughout the day is key to not going stir-crazy at home!
- Rubber Band Workouts - you may already have these lying around your house, but if not, you can order bands online and do workouts using these resistance bands
- Lunges - we're pretty sure your kids will hate these as much as us grown-ups do, but it gets them involved in your daily workouts
- Jump ropes and hula hooping - make it fun! If you have these lying around your backyard, create fun competitions for time and award a snack or treat for who can hula hoop the longest!
- Pinterest - I highly recommend searching the Pinterest app for additional ways to do home workouts which usually require nothing more that items you have in your home.
Stay healthy!
