Sad news for high school athletes, the California Interscholastic Federation announced that high school sports will not resume until December or January.
The surge in coronavirus cases has changed the way schools will be functioning. Gov. Newsom announced last Friday that counties on the State's Monitoring List will will have to hold distant learning for their schools.
With student's off campus, the question of sports was a concern for parents and high school athletes. The CIF made the decision to postpone sport seasons for the safety of those athlete.
Los Angeles City Section commissioner Vicky Lagos said, "There are going to be issues in terms of facilities and multiple-sport athletes, but this is the best scenario for the most people. I have confidence the schools and coaches will work it out among themselves. My take from coaches is they want the opportunity to participate and be with the kids."
