Many people are going to be happy to see 2020 come to an end, but coronavirus might change how you celebrate it.

A tradition for many is to see the ball drop in Times Square to signal the beginning of a new year. Thousands of people gather in the streets of Time Square to celebrate, but due to coronavirus concerns the number of people will be drastically reduced. According to Fox News, a small group of representatives will be invited to participate in the event.

Instead of packed streets, the event (like many) will happen virtually. Times Square Alliance President Tim Tompkins told Fox News that the event will be "scaled back" and  host "an extremely limited group of in-person honorees, socially distanced, who will reflect the themes, challenges and inspirations of 2020."

As for live entertainment, Tompkins says that is still in the works.
