An armed robbery at a Colton bank Tuesday night (October 1st) led to a shopping center lockdown, and several streets in the area being closed off.

A press release from the Colton Police Department noted that shortly after 6pm, police were dispatched to the Chase Bank on the corner of Cooley and Washington in regards to a possible armed robbery.

Upon arriving at the scene, the suspect inside the bank began shooting at officers, shattering the front windows, and injuring one officer. The surrounding shopping center was placed on lockdown, and police asked the public to stay away from the scene.

The Inland Valley SWAT team and San Bernardino County Bomb Squad searched the building and found no additional threats.

The suspect was located inside the building, deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The injured officer was described as having "minor" injuries and was being treated at a nearby hospital.
