For Brantley Gilbert, Just Saying "Thank You" to Our Military Isn't Enough

Brantley Gilbert takes every opportunity he can to show support for our military, whether it's doing events with the USO, the Wounded Warriors Project or the Disabled American Veterans organization, and he feels that's the least he can do.

"God gave me a lot more spotlight and a lot more platform that I'll ever need or ever ask for," he reflects in a statement from his label. "Veterans have always been, and active duty folks, have always been close to my heart.

"I didn't, they did, you know what I mean, kinda thing," he says of their service. "And I feel like we owe 'em a thank you. But not only that, there's a lot of issues that need attention. There's 22 of these guys and girls killin' their self a day [sic]. There's a lot of things that are flying under the radar that I feel like if we have an opportunity to shed some light on, that we should, and it's something that's legitimately on my mind a good bit."

Brantley's latest single, a duet with Lindsay Ell, called "What Happens In a Small Town" is nominated for the Vocal Event of the Year at the CMA Awards this Wednesday.
