Although she didn't have a hand in writing her latest single, Carly Pearce says "Closer to You" was a song she related to immediately, thanks in part to her relationship with her fiance, Michael Ray.
"I think there was a lot of things that drew me to this song," she reveals in a statement from her label. "It made every part of my heart go directly into my relationship, which, I think you want a song to make you feel something and you want to be able to connect to that. And it's such a country lyric that paints just this beautiful picture to me.
"And the melody was very much something that I could hear myself singing immediately, and just all of the nuances of my voice that make me who I am, I could hear 'em on this one."
