Carrie Underwood was among the country artists who sang with Chrissy Metz at the Academy of Country Music Awards Sunday night, but it's not the first artistic experience she's had in common with the "This Is Us" star.

Carrie's latest single, "Love Wins," is featured on the soundtrack to the new movie starring Metz, "Breakthrough," and Carrie says as soon as she saw the film, she knew she wanted to be part of it.

"I was approached about being a part of the 'Breakthrough' movie and having a song in the movie a while back ago....[when we were] on the road doing album promo," she recalls in a statement from her label. "They sent us the movie to watch 'cause I definitely wanted to get to see it before I could say 'Yes, I want to be a part of that,' and the second it was over, I said, 'Yes. I want to be a part of this.'

"It's such an inspiring movie. I can't wait for my son Isaiah to watch it. I can't wait for my husband to watch it. I just think it something that everybody will be able to relate to in some way or another, and it's such an inspiring film. I cried my way through it. I was bawling about 10 minutes in, in a good way!" she adds with a laugh. "But yeah, I'm just always happy when I can be part of things that can inspire and I was honored that they wanted to use 'Love Wins' in the movie."

The soundtrack also includes "I'm Standing with You" by Chrissy Metz, the song she performed at the ACMs, along with other songs from Mickey Guyton, Lauren Alaina, Darius Rucker, Adam Hambrick, Maddie & Tae, and more.

"Breakthrough" hits theatres on Wednesday, April 17th.
