Concert-goers in Nashville experienced a once-in-a-lifetime event last night (August 8th) when John Mayer invited Chris Stapleton on stage at the Bridgestone Arena to perform a song the pair had written the night before.
According to Stapleton's label, the pop star told the sold-out crowd (without revealign the surprise guest), "I said, 'You wanna do one of my songs or one of your songs?' And he said, 'We could do either or we could just write a song and play it.' I said, 'Challenge accepted.'" He then brought out Chris Stapleton on stage to perform "I Just Remembered That I Didn't Care." Afterward, the country star staged on stage for Mayer's "Slow Dance In a Burning Room."
Later, John posted a pic of the pair on stage writing, "Thanks Chris for the idea to write a song to perform together, and for being such a creative powerhouse. The afterglow is bright."
