Cody Johnson is one of many contemporary country artists featured on the new Brooks & Dunn Reboot album, singing "Red Dirt Road," but that wasn't the song the duo originally had in mind for him.

Kix and Ronnie had initially approached "CoJo" about singing "Lost and Found," but the "On My Way to You" singer revealed backstage at Stagecoach, "I grew up on Rural Route 3," referencing the opening line of "Red Dirt Road."

Another line that Cody connected to is later in the same verse, "Race barefoot back to Johnson's face," since his last name is also "Johnson."

Clearly, it was meant to be!
