Earl Thomas Conley Passes Away at 77

Earl Thomas Conley, known for hits like "Holding Her and Loving You," "What I'd Say," and more, passed away early this morning (April 10th). 

According to The Tennessean, his brother Fred confirmed the news, saying the country singer had been in hospice for several months. "He just kept losing ground," Fred Conley told The Tennessean. "I'm brokenhearted."


Several country artists shared their grief over the loss of the country legend on social media. Blake Shelton listed Earl Thomas Conley as his "all time favorite singer, hero and friend," adding, "My heart is absolutely destroyed today."

"Sad day for country music," noted Chris Young.

John Rich of Big & Rich described him as "a huge influence on my style and songwriting."

"An all-time great," wrote Toby Keith.

The Bellamy Brothers, Charlie Daniels, and Maggie Rose also offered their condolences.
