While some artists, like Taylor Swift, have managed to make their music incredibly relatable by including very specific, personal details, others, like Brett Young, think it's better to keep their songs a little mysterious.
"We wrote 'Here Tonight' intentionally vague, kind of the same way that 'In Case You Didn't Know' was written," he explains in a statement from his label. "You don't want to get so caught up in details that you tell such a specific story that people can't make it their story.
"And what's nice about that is with 'Here Tonight,' it's about those moments in life that you wish never had to end. So at any stage in your life, that could be about any given moment. For me, when we wrote 'Here Tonight,' I wasn't engaged yet. And so at the time, it definitely applied to something else, obviously. Now, listening to that song, when I hear it, it makes me actually go to the night that I proposed."
